Describe more than a skin reaction
Bed bugs cannot be confirmed from bites alone. If an insect or other physical sign is visible at a mattress seam, bed frame, or upholstered chair, record that location and take a safe, clear photo. Explain how often the room is used and whether the same signs appear elsewhere. Avoid applying a product simply because an online photograph looks similar to a mark you noticed.
Keep belongings from becoming a moving target
Moving a mattress outside, taking a chair to another house, or switching sleeping rooms can complicate an assessment. Ask what to do before carrying suspect items through the building. Explain any movement that has already happened, including luggage or bags. For a rental or guest space, identify who can authorize access and coordinate instructions for everyone using the affected room.
Learn the sequence before preparing
Inspection, preparation, treatment, and follow-up are separate questions. Ask which actions are needed now and which should wait for the selected approach. A useful plan specifies handling of laundry and belongings, access around furniture, and how new evidence will be evaluated. Confirm charges and return-visit terms before booking. You should not have to guess whether an instruction applies to your room or to a different treatment method.
